Bath Strip

A good quality sealant - e.g. Dow Corning, will always be more effective and neater than a plastic strip.

Remove the existing sealant, clean the area thoroughly (meths), fill the bath with water, apply new sealant and leave alone for 24 hours before draining the bath

I've used 100s of tubes of sealant. Small <4mm beads can be done accurately with a wet finger and nothing else.

The moment you go larger on the bead side the more a "free style" finger finish fails in looks.

For anywhere that you want thick sealant use a new roll of masking tape, take your time masking both sides (so tile area and bath), making sure corners are clear and tidy.

Then apply the sealant, wipe over, carefully remove the tape (now with excess sealant on it) straight in to a waste bag.

The really trick is to apply the correct amount, over application can mean a lipped finish when the tape is removed.
