I turn on the hot tap in the bath and it open part way and jams. I've taken it apart and I found that the internal hex guide nut comes out of the guide slot and hits the bottom of the guide and won't open any further. It looks like a poor design to me, so the upshot is I want to change the upper tap fitting for a different design that works. BUT, I don't want to change the lower tap fitting (spout) as access under the bath is difficult. My question. Is the screw fitting on the lower tap a universal size? Can I get the new upper part from my local plumbers merchant if I show him some photos of the tap?
