We had a bit of as disaster last night, as the bath emptied its contents onto the bathroom floor and kitchen roofspace, creating a waterfall coming from the kitchen light fitting and water seeping down the walls. The problem was that the waste pipe had become separated from the plug/trap bend of the bath, obviousley unbeknown to us as its all hidden behind the bath panel...
Once we removed the bath panel and all became apparent, the length of waste pipe that runs under the length of the bath, seemed, in my humble opinion too short and had simply dropped out with movement over time of the bath, especially the plug area which has the shower unit above and therefore gets some use, and I will replace it with a slighty longer length.
My question to you expert chaps is whats the best way to secure these type of push in connections, basically for peace of mind etc etc. if fitted correctly should they come undone anyway ?....
The bath is supported along its length by solid timber sections so it is very stable, but the way its installed means the waste pipe has to run along the length of the bath then 90 turn into another length that carries it into the soil pipe. If I secure the length of pipe with say a clamp to the floor would that cause any issues, ie do these waste pipes and fittings need to be free to move due to expansion/movement etc etc.
