Hi all,

I've noticed recently that the hot tap on my bath is only giving us warm water - i can hold my hand under the flow constantly - whereas the basin tap (kitchen and bathroom), also the power shower, i can't hold my hand under the tap after a few seconds when it's giving out very hot water.

Is there any obvious reason for this?

I have read that sometimes its because the tap is open too much and the boiler can't heat the amount of water being pumped out of the tap. However, it's not always been like this, i always used to open the hot tap fully and never had a problem, hot water (with the ood cold fluctuation now and then).

Would appreciate any help as it's almost at the point where i'm going to have to add hot water from the kettle or something into the bath water for my daughter!

is it a new property as there may be a thermostatic mixer valve fitted to the bath.

sorry just read rest of ?
if u have a combi boiler u r correct in saying that the more the flow of water through the boiler the less the temperature rise.ie run it slower it will be hotter.

The incoming water is much colder at the moment too.

If you start colder it will come out cooler at the tap.

You should bear in mind that the cold water supply temerature will have dropped considerably of late, and this will have an effect on the hot water output.

thanks for the replies so far guys, i'll have to check out what it's like on a slower flow.

I did think it could be due to the outside temps, but then with the normal taps being really hot still i ruled that out - didn't think there was too much difference in flow between the bath mixer and the basin taps... will check it out, thanks.
