hello, wonder if you can help,
I am about to replace a broken 100mm extractor fan that is directly above the bath.It is pull cord only and does not have a timer,It is wired into the lighting circuit and has been there since we bought the house new (13 years). It has live , neutral and earth connection.
I am having difficulty getting a replacement that is ok for zone 1 that does not cost a fortune. I want it to be safe and am happy to pay for the right product. I do not want to change to in line unless i have to as it will mean alterations to the tiles etc.
Any advice as to the best one to go for or any personal recs would be really helpful.
thanks for your help.
Rob

I fitted a Greenwood Airvac AXS 100 PC in a similar location just over 12 months ago and it's working fine. It's in excess of IPX4 rating and at just over £25 shouldn't break the bank. AFAIK, Xpelair and Vent Axia also make similar units.

The wiring should also include an additional isolator (usually outside of the bathroom) that isolates both the live and neutral for maintainance purposes. I imagine if the house is only 13 years old it will have this. The latest regs now require new installations in bathrooms to be RCD protected too, but it's not retrospective.
