I would want to make some basic tests before shelling out £££ on a new fan. What electrical test kit do you have?

a screwdriver with that light in it to show if its a live wire/etc
Ok… better if you had a two probe voltage tester. The neon things won’t confirm if the neutral is there.
Very basic test: you could remove the cover and test if there’s volts on the L terminal and Also if volts on the LT terminal goes on and off with the light.

..and likely light up too, if placed on the N which is open circuit.
