Bathroom extractor

I would like to fit a bathroom extractor fan. Problem is that there's not enough space in the soffit for the vent to exit after it's journey through the loft. I'm just wondering how long the vent pipe can be, and whether or not I could extend it to the other end of the loft so that it exits through the gable end instead? It would mean a vent pipe of around 4 metres, is this too long? I could support it every 500mm or so and introduce a drop for drainage...??

You would probably need a centrifugal fan with that length of ducting.

You can get through slate/tile roof terminals.

So it might just be easier to put a wall mounted one up instead then?

If you know someone with a core drill set, you would be easier and cheaper to fit a wall mounted fan.

Having used a core drill for the first time this weekend I think I'd be tempted to stitch drill for an extractor fan unless your walls are lightweight block - holding a decent sized SDS drill at head height or above for the time it takes to cut through brick won't be fun.
