I have a flat which was new-build about 15 years ago. The bathroom extractor fan is mounted in the ceiling above the end of the bath furthest from the shower. For some reason they installed the fan isolator switch (a standard un-rated part) also mounted on the ceiling above the bath, 8" closer to the shower. Now this is clearly in zone 2, and clearly wrong, and was noted on the electrical safety certificate last year.

I would like to know my options for making this legally compliant.

1. The isolator switch could be relocated outside the batroom door (but there may be some practical difficulties with that, due to the run of the wiring).

2. The isolator swtich could be moved about a foot such that it is not above the bath (but there may be a heated ceiling panel in that position).

3. The isolator switch could be replaced by an IP44 rated switch.

I have had a substantial quote for option 1, but I rather prefer option 3 as having low risk of becoming expensive. Would this satisfy the regulations?

There no zone above 225cm,
