Every time i pull the cord for the bathroom light it trips the fuse and all the lights go out up stairs. It was fine until the bulb went about weel ago.

Any help would be much appeciated.

Might be a bit late in the day for this, but do you still have the old bulb - Was it definitely faulty (can be tested by sticking it in somewhere else) or was the bulb not working because of a fault somewhere else ? Alternatively, why not try a new, new bulb, as there may be something faulty with the new one (if you catch my drift).

If the fuse repeatedly blows, you have got a short-circuit path from live to either neutral or earth causing too much current to flow. The fact that it happens when pulling the bathroom switch implies that it lies somewhere after this switch.

If you can eliminate the above two and feel confident, turn off the electricity and check inside the light wiring to see if any wires have come loose and are touching things they shouldn't be...

What sort of light fitting, what sort of bulb?

With an enclosed fitting it's not unknown for the heat from the bulb to damage the cable insulation to such an extent that it becomes brittle. A bit of movement when changing the bulb could cause it to flake away, and a short circuit to be created.
