Have chosen Astro downlights Vancouver or Mint x 3 for new, small, bathroom (70's style bath/loo knocked together). Can someone advise re 12v or 240v please?

We would like to use a dimmer switch and I like the idea of a crisp white light (don't like yellowy hue) but know nothing about the pros and cons of each.
Anything we should be aware of re future lighting rules/regs etc?

I realise we need transformers for 12v and have been told about possible hum but that's it.

Any help appreciated, thanks.

You're probably better with 12V lamps as they're noticbly whiter and brighter than their 230V counterparts.

As you've realised, you.ll need transformers but if you buy good quality transformers then you won't have any problems with humming.

Also, they will have to be suitable for dimming, if that's what you want. Not all of them are.

You may need to notify building control before commencing work (Part P) and additionally protect the circuit with a 30mA RCD.
