I am going to replace an old bathroom pull cord light switch. I went to look in a hardware shop an have got totally confused.

There are 6amp, 16amp switches , also 1 way and 2 way pole.
How do i know what my switch is?
Is there any way to finding out by opening it up and looking inside.

If you only have one light in the bathroom working from your existing pull cord then it will be a 1 Way 6 Amp Pull Cord Switch.

I would recommend replacing it with an MK Logic one - part number MK3191 WHI.

I don't work for MK just prefer their products!

6 Amp ones are for lighting,
16 amp is normally for isolation for an appliance - often available in 2 pole version so it can switch live and neutral.

You'll want a 6 Amp, single pole, "1 way" switch. This would do

Do check the existing pull switch to make sure there are no rogue fan connections etc there - a certain fan wiring arrangement calls for a 2-pole pullswitch.
