Hello,

I would like to fit a fan in the bathroom that only goes off while standing in the shower or the bath. (ceiling)

I have looked at all the HUMIDISTAT fans but they are white and bulky, I have looked at the fans with PIR in and they are also quite bulky.

I can easily get a slimline chrome fan from almost everywhere, but its the PIR that I am bothered about.

Is there a ceiling mount PIR that has a shield, or cover on it so it will not trigger if I was to just walk up to the toilet, but I would have to stand under it.... this is what I want, for it to just trigger above the bath... is there any that can do this

Thanks

I have seen alarm installers use tippex on 360 degree PIR detectors. So no reason you cant do this if it needs to be contained.

(They use the tippex where the PIR would otherwise cover an entrance zone thus triggering the alarm)

what you require is a PIR with a good IP rating

i have a good website that i have linked on my favs on other computer so will send it to you later tonight
think its about £50 for it though

If you are going to be that particular then the only thing that will satisfy you is a fan with a pull switch (either integrated in the fan or separate).

Dont forget that electrical work like this in a bathroom is notifiable.

yes I don't want it to go off unless in bath or shower, so without masking (if you can) a normal one wont work....no don't want a pull switch..... I have a bathroom mirror with a hand sensor on the side, move your hand across fast and the light turns on... wonder if I could get something like that...but it could not switch the current of a fan.

masking out a section of a ceiling pir looks the favorite at the moment.

Thanks
