I am trying to get both my cold & hot water levers to turn the water on & off as they typically do. Allegedly the store sold me stems that can be either the hot or the cold side- thus called Price & Phister Hot/cold stems. However, I can one of them to turn on counterclockwise & off clockwise, as is typical in the USA (everywhere?). BUT the opposite side then turns on clockwise & off counterclockwise. Of course, I can switch them, and make the converse happen. The goal is to have both work as they should. Can't find any directions on how to reserve the turn direction on a stem. Or have I been sold the wrong part? and have two of one kind instead of a true hot stem and true cold stem. These are supposed to be "bi-sexual" and go both ways..
no directions whatsoever on packaging.

In England i have fitted taps that swing both ways (ooh er) ie the levers swing towards each other, for on,then back away from each other, for off, which is what i prefer, but have have also come across lever taps which both units operate in the same direction.
Perhaps you need to get 2 colds,or 2 hots, and you may get the orientation you want.
