Would like to consider making one of those beautiful new style  bowl sinks shown sitting on top of a bathroom counter.

I have a Royal Haeger(USA) pottery bowl with small chip(not valuable to anyone, but me). It seems deep and large enough to be a sink, and I would like to drill a hole for the drain and plumbing. I also have a very old commode stand with a carved backboard and towel bar. There is one narrow drawer just under the cabinet top(bottom is weak, so not used), and there is a small cabinet door with space inside enough to hide the plumbing.
What kind of drill bit would work well with this pottery(~ 1/4 inch thick)? Is it best to use the newer flexible tubing for plumbing inside the cabinet?

Ye gods you've given yourself a bit of a nightmare here.....there has to be a high risk of the pottery bowl shattering, but if you want to give it a go, use a grit edged holesaw, plenty of cooling water, a slow revolving drill and definitely no hammer action - you may be lucky! Use any sort of flexible plumbing you can get that won't put any stress on the pottery when you tighten things up.
