BathroomCeiling/shower cubicle

The shower cubicle in our bathroom had a problem with the plaster coming away on the ceiling and has been replaced. Need advice on what to paint on to stop it happening again. Should I use damp seal under an emulsion coat to protect it.

A nasty thing to say, but artex springs to mind for the space above the shower cubicle. Then a couple of coats of vinyl silk emulsion. The artex can be painted on without any design.
