Battery backup for st699 programmer

I have just moved house with a gas central heating system controlled by a Honeywell ST699 programmer. Last week we had a power cut got up in the morning to no heating, the programmer does have a battery backup but obviously isn't working, does anyone know if the battery can be changed or do I need a new unit.

You cannot buy the official battery from Honeywell anymore, but they are available from the likes of Maplin, or I get mine from HERE

If it is a very new 699 then you cannot replace the battery as it is built on the pcb.

I don't know how old the unit is as I only moved into the house 2 months ago how can I tell if the battery can be replaced.

Remove the timer from its back plate and have a look inside.
