battery prob

the water cells seem to be low with the end ones empty, battery has had no charge for 6 months, wont seem the charge, could it be the water levels, and how do i top them up, not a car man but a rough arse builder with no car knowledge

Scrap the battery - it's a waste of time trying to do anything given that history.
 
If the battery has been sat with no charge for sometime, and the electrolyte is non existant, the cell is most likely knackered.
Even if you do get a charge into it, it wont last long at all.

I agree with the others, it probably won't last long now.

But at least you should try it. Top up the cells to just above the plates with distilled water, available from a car parts shop. Then stick it on charge for a good 12 hours. By that time, the current should have fallen to a very low value.

In future if you have to store a battery. Make sure the cells are topped up. Keep it somewhere warmish. Charge it up once a month.
