hi, 94 escort
went to start car yesterday morning batt flat :(
not had it happen b4,battery is only about 6 months old and got a charge of 13 + volts
anyway i done a currant leak test on battery today
removed +poss lead from battery and put multimeter between lead and battery with meter on common and 10ADC setting
reading was 0.11
i then put inline fuse back in for radio amp and reading was then 1.19
i took fuse out [after battery went flat ]because i had problems with loss of sound on speakers last monday and suspected the amp
did i do it right with the multimeter
and does reading seem ok or have a problem ?
regards. r.r
ps. started ok today

reading was then 1.19

do you mean 1.19Amps?

assuming that all of this is due to the radio or an aftermarket amp, and you didn't leave anything else on, such as the boot light, or the ignition, and you have not got an aftermarket alarm, I suspect you have got the wrong radio or amp connector attached to permanent live, instead of to switched live. Permanent live should not allow the radio or amp to turn on, only draws enough current to keep the clock and memory running.

:D thanks JOHN D, you hit the jackpot i just been out and looked under dash and the amp was powerd up without ignition key even in
i removed the 40amp in line fuse from battery and it went off
so as you say most likely i've reconected ign/and main feed wrong way round
as i said i lost speaker sound in the week and thought it were amp
as i could get sound from radio by testing a spare speaker on the actual speaker wires at back of radio
removed the amp tested it with another radio and it was ok ,day or 2 later
put it back in car re,conected to radio and it worked again ,never did find out why i lost sound to start with ?
and yes as far as i know it was a 1.19 amps meter reading with the 40AMP inline fuse back in
leads were in common and 10A
im not that well up on multimeters just what i google up
as for your question CH 427 i dont know how to check that reading
thanks to both for replies. :D regards. r.r.
