Hi father in law's baxi's playing up. It will fire up for a minute then stop with "overheat" light warning. Pump and 2 port valve are OK (we've had motor head of the later off to enure it wasn't sticking) and we've felt heat albeit briefly in airing cupboard. condenser outlet pipe is clear

Any ideas what else we could try ? Gas board are coking out on Boxing day, but I don't like to see the OAPs without heat over Xmas, particular with this weather

You need to check whether theres water in the system. Check F&E cistern in loft or repressurize if sealed system.
