Hi,

Looking to replace our boiler setup, we have 2 thermostat zones (upstair/downstair) along with a separate unvented hot water system paired with standard programmer.
I believe this is in a S-plan arrangement.

Currently thinking about a Baxi 800 system boiler which is to replace our old Potterton (13 years old). Would welcome any feedback on this boiler?
Whilst considering such a replacement, is it a good idea to also replace the external pump to something more current (Grundfos UPS3)? Figured the existing pump would be due a swap at the same time for convenience once system is fully drained.

The other aspect I would like to get advice on is the thermostat control. I would like to pair this with a Tado X smart thermostat. I understand the Baxi 800 supports opentherm modulation control, and so does the Tado X?
But as with all things, not sure if there are specific restrictions or compatibility issues. I would appreciate if anyone has experience of the Tado X along with the Baxi 800.
Does it work together?, especially in my current arrangement?

Any relevant feedback or advice would be most appreciated.
Cheers,
Hung

@gas112 might be able to help with the specific Baxi and if it's any good. Regards the Tado and opentherm you may have to check this with Baxi as I think I've read compatibility issues.

Firstly if you are getting a system boiler then this comes with the pump already inside it so your existing external pump would be removed anyway
Baxi did have an issue with certain makes of open therm controls on the original 800 system but im lead to believe there is no issues with the new mark 2`s but as above it could be worth a phone call to baxi technical

Thanks for highlighting that. Come to realise that the baxi system version also has a internal expansion vessel. In comparison to my current Potterton Promax setup, where we have an external pump and external vessel for CH (i guess our potterton is a heat only boiler).
I assume both external pump and vessel would have to be removed for the replacement system boiler install?
Our filling loop is located in the location of where the external vessel and pump is. I assume the filling loop can remain there, and there is no mains pipework in the current boiler location (garage).

I'll contact baxi tech as suggested.
But would hope someone on this forum has direct experience in this install/setup that can confirm i.e. baxi 800 + tado in opentherm control + s-plan.
