I just typed out like 1000 words and lost it.

Baxi back boiler 20+ years old

Worked fine until 2016 when it wouldn't ignite got it fixed

Worked fine for 2 years now I have gone to light it it ignited fine but now I have the issue of a weird sound

Gas guy can't fit me in till end of January so figured I would see if anyone has encountered this problem before.

Not looking at replacing the back boiler as house is going up for sale soon and I do not want to spend 4k on boiler and system and not get it back.

Should also state that my radiators that are on and hot water work fine just don't want to leave boiler lot with that noise because for all I know it could go kaboom.

Got a emergency plumber out he turned the boiler down and noise stopped will get it fixed in new year, appreciate the much needed help from this forum NOT.

well to be fair , I have worked on these old girls for about 35 years and hadnt a clue what that noise was and I have seen and changed every single part of them many times, I wouldnt have turned anything down, it requires a complete strip down and investigation, but sorry no one could give you a magic pill, merry Christmas , get it sorted asap

Is there a need for hostility, since you provided a poor 5 second sound clip, posted in the afternoon Christmas Eve, asking about a back boiler that’s possibly gas related (against forum rules which you agreed upon joining) and not everyone has worked on. Glad you got sorted. Merry Christmas (y)

Some people think the pros are here waiting anxiously to come to their needs at drop of a hat as they having nothing else to do

Wow, nice attitude you've got there  I'm sure that will be remembered if you ever need to ask for more advice...

Were they rude words:unsure:

Attitude.
You ask for help- it comes when it does
You pay some one for help, you can then expect it to appear. It may not get there at the exact dot. Then you have scale off expertise. All thumbs guy will be there like lightening but end result may not be what you expect. A pro ( not self proclaimed but badge bestowed by those who have been used his/ her services before) will get there when he has finished his previous task. Lot of these pros are here to assist as a public service to likes of you but you expect earth, moon sun and all in between, these guys do not even take that from paying customers. Need I say more?

These pages perhaps offer the best advice. Be humble, take it with sincerity. Snide remark will get you nowhere
