If the valve is still moving freely you may just need to change the synchro motor v easy job about £15 from the big sheds.

remove 2 screws and lift off powerhead [turn off power first]. see if spindle in brass body rotates, and check it is not leaking from stem seal. if ok, replace powerhead. [it is not easy to replace motor in danfoss 3 port]. danfoss is not most expensive make. [nor should not be !]

The guy has given a wee bit of a clue that that valve body is feked he is getting CH when just HW is selected so that would suggest its passing so new head or motor will not solve it.
To the OP most 3 port valves are the same size just a few mill of a difference if any so any make should fit the only thing you have to take notice of is can you get access to the head for future motor changes. danfoss is handy for this as it does not have any fiddly screws as such

Also if you change complete valve the nuts might be a different thread so make sure you will be able to remove the olives

As long as they look the same from the outside, most of the nuts on Honeywell, Sunvic and other valves are the same.
If you buy another HS3 complete, you can take all the moving parts from the new one and put them in the old one without removing the brass body of the valve from the pipes. Some might consider it fiddly but it only takes a couple of minutes.

you can get a service kit with new plates cant you? would be much cheaper.
