My very old baxi has spring a major leak from the water heat tank in the boiler itself and emptied in my lounge. I have turned it off, stopped system from calling for hot water and heating etc. I have drained the radiator system and tied of header tank to stop refilling. I also shut of water supply to hot water cylinder but need to use emersion heater whilst i sort out a bew boiler so need to turn this back.

So how do i stop water going to the back boiler and the keakung tank?

you have two tanks in loft isolate or tie up the ball valve in the smaller of the two tanks that is the one that fills heating circuit
cylinder can then be used for hotwater with immersion

Thank you, thats what i have done but wanted to make sure i didnt make anything worse. At least we can get hot water until get boiler/ new one sorted.
