I have had the fire for a few years and the front glass is marked quite badly. I was wondering if it would be OK to remove the glass completely - I realise that there is a safety risk- but I have no children running around the house these days and 'open' gas fires are used - any thoughts?

Positively NOT OK, it would be dangerous. Fumes, carbon monoxide, world war 3,....

Thanks for the feedback. I did wonder if that would be an issue but I wasn't sure as you see many 'open' gas fires these days and perhaps the glass was just protecting us from the flames!

Use brasso or a very wet brillo pad to clean it and with a bit of effort it will come up as new.

They could not have done it right then . As have been using brasso for years and recommending it an never had that result. Both methods given as a tip by someone in the glass industry

Was not arguing Kev just discussing   besides he is probably dead by now after using it without glass on

my2 p worth, if it went white when gas back on would that not mean the heat cooked the glass and anything on it, which would mean he didnt rinse it after cleaning, which means its his own fault

Still alive and kicking! By the way, I haven't removed the glass! I have cleaned it with a Brillo pad and the marks are better but not gone completely so thanks for the tip. :)
