Hi Guys,

Just thought Id ask you about a problem I have with my ancient back boiler.

Today, its failed to heat the water and I think its down to the safety unit that cuts the gas off when the flame goes out, basically, when I light the pilot, it lights but goes out when I release the button (even after holding for several minutes, does anyone know what its called and if its easy to fit?

Thanks!

Steve :D

I know, but you need a RGI to dive into a BBU.

I know as well  and a quick search Baximan would also know it's called a thermocouple or something like that.

It usually is the thermocouple but can be down to a blocked or restricted pilot or a faulty gas valve.
Keep this old dinosaur serviced by an RGI and it could last you years.
Go into Lloyds chemists and treat yourself to a Carbon Monoxide detector. At under £12 they are much cheaper to buy than a funeral.
