You might try turning the pump control clockwise until the indicator is pointing to II, not sure but it looks like tha attached download I found for this pump.

i have come across boilers like this when i worked for the council

Try and move it one way or the other until that heavy black indicator is pointing to = on the right hand side, try and see if the rushing air sound dies down or/and the boiler stays firing by slowly moving it around that point, the three lines are max head which will probably cause the most noise, no good, so play around with the settings for awhile.
Alos see if the arrow on the pump body is pointing towards the three way mid position valve which should be close by, a bit further back from the pump should be a 15mm cold feed from the CWSC and no more than 150mm further back, the 22mm Vent that goes up and over the CWSTC.

I think you said your problems started when you installed a AAV in the attic?, I would just close (cap it) this off for now, and check for any air from those two thumb vents above the mid position valve.

Hi the rushing air sound only happens when the boiler stops think it might be called kataling or something like that ??? but it dont come from the boiler seams to be from the pipes in the loft right above the boiler and not from the pump?
dial on the pump only turns half way up or down you would think the pointed end would point to the marks on the right side
thanks for the help
Mick

Can't see the "pointy" end on the pump but as long as its not running at full speed which at a 6M head can create havoc on open vented system then should be OK, speed "=" (2) will normally be around 3/3.5M which is fine, where was it pointing originally? That pump is over 18 years old, week1 2007, PC0701, so just the possibility of sticky operation or reduced flowrate due to sludge/scale build up in its ports and impeller, normally, its quite easy to inspect this by isolating the pump, removing 4 set bolts and pulling the pump head out, but if the boiler is running continuously for "hours" on end then unlikely to be the problem.

Re kettling, you say in post #1, "My boiler starts up then shuts down just after starting theres a sound of air rushing....." if its shutting down immediately or shortly after start up then the pump might not be starting or is sticking, causing the boiler to reach its target temperature +5C and shut down, then you can get this kettling sound. Normally, when the boiler shuts down due to a roomstat or cylinder stat reaching its target temp, or is programmed off, then the pump should run on for a few minutes to dissipate the build up of heat in the boiler HEX, if the burner shuts off because the minimum boiler output is greater than the heat demand then the pump should just continue to run, the burner should then cut back in when the boiler flow temperature falls to target temperature - 5C

Hi every one
I have rang the guy who fitted the boiler he coming Monday
will let you know what was wrong
and HOW MUCH ITS COSTING
thanks for trying
Mick

awaiting the cost let you know when i do
thanks for the help
all working now

Next time the system is on you might post a close up photo of the pump showing any LEDS, also the pump head in M and the flowrate in m3/hr which the majority now display.
