Hi

Been having trouble with my mums boiler of late, firstly it is 7 years old, nearly 8.

last few weeks she has found that when you run hot water the heating would also come on (but only when the hot tap was running). So i was thinking diverter valve. We have a boiler technician in the family (works for Worcester/Bosch) and he was thinking the same and due to have a look.

Now it has got worse and the heating runs constantly the only way to stop it is to turn it off at the mains. Someone has suggested the PCB?

Asking about shes found most plumbers say Baxis are hard to work on, and say you need a baxi specialist repairer I'm not interested! To make it worse it's in a airing cupboard!

It runs on a drayton wireless room stat (the timer unit on the boiler being constantly on over ride) this seems to be working ok thou and makes no difference at what position any wired or wireless controls are at/set on.

Really wondered if you guys have come across similar.....?

Baxi 80 eco is one of the easiest boilers to work on :)

Temporarily disconnect the wireless receiver from the boiler....if the heating still comes on its almost certain to be a faulty DHW switch or the pin is jammed out (often the gland seal has leaked). If it's the switch these are a pain to change since a fair chunk of the loom also connected to it.

As for the rads heating up that's probably a partially seized diverter.

Thank you. I still think dirverter because of the nature of how the divertor works of course. In the same way a 3 way motorized value on central heating goes wrong.

I will pass this on the the guy i mentioned. No problem if it was bosch as he has a van full of spares!
