does the boiler fire if you press the micro switch with a screwdriver while running hot water?
Sounds to me like a blockage in the boiler!
Perhaps it is possible to connect a laptop but thats the first time I have head it mentioned. If it is possible then where can I get the lead and program?

The blockage will not unclear itself. Did he remove the plate heat exchanger as that would usually be the blocked part.
I would clear it easily but it is a bit messy and time consuming so I usually charge about £136. Very few engineers will bother though.
What I don't think that you should do is get that engineer to fit a new boiler ! Why should he bother to repair it ( even if he knew how ) if you will then pay him £2000 to fit a new boiler.
You should get three quotations for the same boiler. The warranty length will depend on the relationship he has with Worcester. Mad I know but if you pretty much only fit their boilers they give a longer warranty.
Whilst they think it will get installers to fit more of their boilers, they forget that others like me are uncompetitive to quote for fitting Worcester boilers in respect of the warranty length.
There are better boilers though!

haha, exactly, i was amazed, how can you connect a laptop to an 18 year old baxi combo boiler!! but just as he said I'm going to van to get my laptop, I had to leave for work, so I couldn't see what he did.
