The gas fire on my Inset 2 will only stay alight for approx 30 secs before switching off. However if I remove the coal from the front (the long one that sits on the fire front) it stays alight - any suggestions as to what's wrong?

It was doing it before it was serviced last week, was ok for 2 days but has started again. i can get the chap who serviced it back again but I was just wondering what might be causing it.
