My son's Baxi Solo 3 70 regular (vented system) boiler sometimes fails to fire up. Gas engineer showed us the problem - the venturi is distorted so the pressure switch is not holding. He said we need a complete fan unit at over 200 pounds fitted. You can get venturis for later models. Is it possible to get just the venture just for this model - over 10 years old. You can buy refurbished fan units so you must be able to get the venturi from somewhere ?

Is it possible to get just the venture just for this model -
yes, very much so but from a specialist spares shop.

consider the fan could need removal and refitting to exchange the venturi, other parts may be required which are not that available. The fan could have its own defects which the visiting service technician has observed.

Your visiting service technician has seen the boiler,so they have an advantage at how they want to do the repair. There are always alternative ways of doing a job :cautious:.

just ask the visiting service technician if their repair will actually resolve the existing fault

Ok - getting quotes for new boiler. Guy said may need pressure switch as well. Then added maybe the gas valve is overheating the fan unit .....
Its had a good inning !
