I think he was trying to do me a favour in pointing out there wouldn't be much difference in cost and a lot less likely for there to be any errors - such as the wrong size catnics purchased etc.

So he's telling you that it's going to be cheaper to buy hot-rolled steel beams and have calculations done for them and the bearings, than to buy Catnics?
