Customer asked me to look at garage light as it was working intermittently.
8foot fluorescent.
It had been connected in bell wire from the rose.

Sorry about the quality, was using camera phone and torch!

Like the way people use the screw slot for the cable, see that a lot with T+E when the fittings are on a ceiling grid.

 Agreed.
Rather than being 'dog rough' I usually leave the starter hanging and take the cable through there, with a grommet of course, a well modelled swan neck dropping out of the ceiling works wonders.

Why was the fitting overlapping the ceiling rose?

Although not DI, the bell wire probably wasnt overloaded. Only about half an amp

My grandad has a 5ft T12 fluorescent wired in 0.5mm² (or smaller if that exists) flex, no earth. Wired to a plugtop.
