Hi All,
First post!
We've got a Bentley F133 house alarm.
We had British Gas round the other day fitting smart meters.
The wife's mother was here whilst they did it as we were at work!
Naturally they had to switch the power off.
Since then, the reset light is illuminated and when I put the 4 digit code in, it goes out and the green power on light illuminates.
Unfortunately the alarm never goes off whether we move about or open the front door.
pressing 4 zeros just puts the reset light back on. I'm guessing the alarm is over 20 years old. We've never had a problem with it before.
It was in when we moved in 16 years ago.
Any help appreciated.

Davy !!!

Does your user code still work ?
0000 is the reset for the F133 following an activation ?
When was the last time your back up battery was replaced ?
Possibly 25 years old ? Very reliable control panel in its day fitted a fare few back in the 80 's
Your battery could be fault ?

Thanks. I seem to recall the one time we got it serviced....about 10 years ago they change the battery. Maybe the power being off drained it.
0000 doesn't seem to do much and putting the code in doesn't either.
Is it worth getting someone in to fix it? or should I replace it with one of those wireless systems?

Power the system down totally for a start , mains and battery and re power mains first ,you will probably need a small Alan key to open up the panel , this panel does have nvm back up , but worst case the default user code is 1234

How do I power it down without switching off the whole house?

There should be a unswitched fused spur next to the control panel ?
Remove the fuse
Open panel
Disconnect battery
Re apply mains power and reset system lid lids to closed
If all ok battery faulty and needs replacement
You most put a new battery in as when you lose power alarm will activate
If no spur you need to turn consumer unit off

I have a fused spur. I'll give that a try when I get in tonight.
Many Thanks!

Take a new battery home with you, it NEEDS REPLACING, (every 4-5 years) not 10!

YUASA 12v 7Ah

I would if I knew what type it was?
I'll need to open the panel and check.
If it cures the problem I'll be sure to keep on top of things in the future.

Cheers

Ok spooky stuff.
Came in tonight and after about 10 minutes switched the light on in the bedroom and the bulb blew. This set off the house alarm in the outside box. Went down to the panel and before I touched it the alarm stopped and all the lights went out (on the panel).
I'm guessing the battery had flattened?

Changed the bulb in the bedroom and flicked the mcb back on in the garage.
Then pulled the fused spur and opened the front of the panel.
Went to pull the spade connector off the battery and the whole connection came away.
Cue the alarm going off outside ....and inside.
I pushed the fused spur back in and punched in the code.
I then hit 0000 to clear the lights and everything is back to normal.
I looked at the battery and it had written on the side of it.....
Changed 11/11/2001.
Exactly 15 years to the day!

Right....where do I get a new battery and what is the fitting procedure?

Cheers

Davy !!!

What size is the battery you have?
It will tell you on the side of the battery ?
Not all size batteries will fit inside a F133
2.1 or 2.8 should be ok

Its a 2.1
I've just checked on eBay and a Honeywell one is only £8.40.
I'll get one ordered.
Thanks for all the help

Just an update.
Battery arrived....fitted it...... and all working well
