Am getting broad hints about a present consisting of a car vac. Are the cordless ones any good, if not which is the best, lightest and most powerful mains job please.

Seriously, consider a Henry vacuum......hell of a suction, good length hose and cheap bags. Costs around £80 or less on offer, and ebay motors are only about £25.
Squash one of the stainless pipes nearly flat in the vice and you have a perfect tool for getting into the crannies etc.
Much better and more versatile than any 12v jobby!
John :)

I have had a couple of those for years and nothing has ever gone wrong with them - unlike some of the more expensive ones. They make them not far from here.

Go for a Henry Hoover or get a wickes wet & dry vacuum, this are very powerful. Also you can have the hose so that it blows out. This way you can blow all the dust from the places you can't normally reach.

Thanks every-one, I've had cordless before and they were a bit rubbishy, thought they might have improved by now. Will have a look at Wickes and probably end up with the little red fellow !

Yes but a car vac is cheaper to maintain, less trouble and won't argue about which TV to watch !!
