option one
make sure your first board is correct with the joice not the wall
give yourself 10mm off the wall in case it is not a square room
put the right hand row in starting with a full board but do not screw it up totally
then start second row with a full board bottom right ,if this row goes in you can totally screw up the boards
if not move row one slightly

is nailing still used out in the pro domain?

not for at least ten years
too many nail pops
when screws became mandatory the tackers were paid extra as it took longer to screw ,using an ordinary cordless , rather than nail .
then came along the " collated screw gun" which most tackers i know use

The boards I took down were nailed and were Artexed which probably dates them pretty well
