Hi,...I have a really old and inefficient free standing British gas boiler in a room attached to the rear of the garage. Its a Concord C140 and takes a lot of gas to heat the whole house (1930s Detached 5 bed, extended a few times).

Although the boiler looks and works reasonably well (closed loop system for CH and HW with pumps to help the water up into the loft, vented), I'm not sure it's got long to go. It looks as if it was installed mid-late 70's, and I'm trying to find something that is more efficient and of higher capacity to cope with the extra rads that have been added since the initial system was installed.

Any ideas of what to look for and how much I should be looking at paying out please?

Thanks

Thanks for the quick reply mysteryman.

Is this this free-standing or wall mounted? I'd like least amount of disruption ot existing pipework. I like the bit about it'll nearly half my gas bill,...I'm paying over £2000/year just on gas!
