Hi

What I'm wanting to do is wire my attic light to come on when the hatch is opened. I've thought about using a PIR sensor but having never used them before I'm sure about reliability and range/coverage. So I was thinking maybe I could use a switch which closes when the hatch is lifted. But I can't seem to find them for sale.

Just wondering what people have used in the past. Failing those ideas I'll just stick a normal on/off switch next to the opening in the loft. Just wanted something a bit different

Thanks

I'd use a PIR. They are very reliable and give good coverage when set to their most sensitive. Only issue would be if you sat still for ages up there and the light went out.

I can imagine that would be very annoying with the light going out and you not being able to see where to step to turn it back on again !

You would probably want to fit an isolator switch for maintance, in which case you may as well just have a switch!

Just have an ordinary switch. That way you are in control, and it can't go wrong.

You could have a switch with a neon, in the landing area, if you prefer, if you're worried about it being left on.
