It does no harm at all, though scammers will try to insist it does damage your roof and needs to be removed. The only serious effect of moss on your roof, is when it dies and drops off, it can obstruct gutters and fall pipes. If you just keep those clear - no problem.

Being honest this is the real reason I am cleaning it. It doesn't look very nice tbh but my gutters are blocked all the time I've cleaned them 3 times last year and I thought OK great that's it for the year now.

Boom full again in about 2 months. So I thought this year I'll clean it off nicely and it'll look good and I'll have the gutters clear.
