Hi,

I have a 40mm x 21.5mm reducer which needs to take a 13mm hose from the drainer on my water softner. The trouble is I can't seem to get anything to clip it in and make it a nice tight fit.

This is connected to my sink waste so I need to be careful about smells coming back up as well.

I had an idea to run a straight piece of 21.5mm overflow pipe vertically and insert a longer 13mm hose in. I could then seal it with silicone.

An alternative is to bung the 21.5mm reducer and use the free washing machine cap.

I am not sure what the best solution is or is it 6 of 1...
