Hi,

Need to put some 50x50mm spikes in the ground - about 20-30cm deep.

Thanks

use tanalised timber - that seems to last for 10 years to much longer - i have posts that have been in the ground for 25 years and they are still good - and if you can soak them in old engine oil first - even longer

+1.
Old engine oil works wonders.

I've had concrete posts and spurs that lasted twice as long.

Post saver sleeves.

Or wrap the spike in 300mm or 225mm flashband, put it so it finishes just above soil - that’s where it rots.

If using flashband put it on, then heat it with a heat gun until soft and use a seam roller to really get it welded to the timber - or just roll out flashband and leave in sun until nice and warm

25 years ago they were treated with better stuff than the p!$$ used today.
