When i turn on the hot water tap the boiler fire up for about 8-10 seconds and then shuts off but fires up again for another 8-10 seconds and repeats this constantly every time i use the hot water tap. Can anybody advise as to what the problem may be.

It's broken.
No its not broken! Its just not working properly.
The secondary heat exchanger is blocked IF the temperature gauge goes up much above 65° C.
If the temperature gauge stays below 55° then its a fan/venturi/APS problem but these need a CORGI.

Also have the exact same problem.
The temp stays around 70/80, cuts out for 10 - 14 seconds and then comes back on. This process is repeated.
