Wonder if anyone can help we have the chance of a secondhand 6 year old Biasi 28S combi boiler.Sister in law updating as not big enough to run her house. We have 10 radiators 2 mira excel showers washing machine and dishwasher to run.Will this be man enough for the job or shall we forego the freebie and buy something else.Thanks for any help

You have omitted to tell us what you have at the moment.
Althought he 28S is a higher output combi it can still only give about 11 li/min of hot water.
It would be fine if used to supply the rest of the house as a combi and the showers from a cylinder.
Otherwise I would not be suggesting a combi boiler at all. One wonders why your sister is removing it anyway. Its a fine boiler except for the DHW output. It will heat an eight bedroom detached house if required.

It is a fine boiler when it is fitted in a property which does not need more than 11 li/min from a combi boiler.
That would usually be a 1-2 bed flat with one bathroom!
Most larger properties would be better supplied with hot water from a cylinder.

ok that may well be possible. but no one could recommend that.
And why not? If the total heat load did not exceed 28kw, this boiler could heat a 16 bedroom wendy house no probs.
OP, if you have an open vented system at present, putting a sealed system boiler in (like what you have been offered), will subject the installation to higher working pressure. If the system is not watertight, even a loss of a drop of water every hour will need constant topping up.

Thanks for all the replys. We currently have a 20 year old glow worm boiler. The reason we are changing boilers is A its age and efficency and B as we have a tiny bathroom we are planning to take out the airing cupboard and tank to make a very small bathroom slightly bigger. We have had quotes upwards of £3000 to replace the boiler and remove the tank and pipework.Everyone you speak to says something different.Help!!!

The Biasi would be more efficient than your existing G-W boiler by about 15-20% but by the time it is installed most people would say that its worth spending an extra £600 or so to buy a new condensing boiler and get an extra 12% efficiency advantage from the condensing action.
Keep the Biasi for a small flat!

a good combi is designed to last ten years so this is six years old , all boilers installed today should be condensing biasi are one of the cheapest boilers on the market to buy and very dear to repair to be honest scrap it get some good advice from a local corgi installer and check his id the other problem with the 28s is they are poor on hot water and cant run with any degree of comfort two showers get some good advice locally a combi might not be theway to go for you and you have to bear that in mind but check out the baxi duotec 40 fine bit of kit run 2 showers together infact service 2 bathrooms any way local adivse is needed here with a home visit dont do it on the cheap cos you will regret it cheers Paul
My experiance with Biasi is that the spares are very expensive,and the pumps dont have a long life, we have just replaced a pump and the new one went down 4 weeks later,luckily under warranty.
Other than this we dont have too many problems.
But you may find it difficult to find someone willing to fit a secondhand 6 year old Biasi, i wouldnt ,as i would not know its history and i would be dubious as to why it was being replaced if it was apparently working.
I do concede that people have perfectly good boilers removed for perfectly legitemate reasons but i would not touch it and i doubt many others would.

Biasi boilers now have Wilo pumps which have plastic bearings which can wear fasted in some types of dirty water.
In clean water they seem the most reliable type of pump. I have never found one that had failed electrically. I teach my trainees the smell of burnt out Grunfoss!
