The release valve was replaced about 6 months ago as it was leaking. Now, after a bath is run or the shower has been in use for too long & the bolier has started cooling down; water starts spurting out of the top at quite some speed! Any ideas to whats causing this. No probs with pressure generally & it rights itself after about 5 mins with no further probs - until the next time.

So its overheating!
Why could it overheat?
Perhaps:- pump over-run feature is not working
pump is stiffening up and not functioning as well as it should
pumping sludge.
gas pressure is incorrectly set
+ other stuff

Now I cant even see your boiler but my 50p is on the pump beginning to sieze. An expensive item depending on which model you have as wilo make the bespoke pump heads for some of these boilers and you could be looking at £150plus

Like I say thats a guess because you havent specified the model and I cant see it. Really you need someone who is specialised in boiler repairs to check it out

I would expect that your hot water demand switch is sticking on and the boiler is overheating.

It could also be the gas valve sticking on but that is VERY rare on your boiler.

In either case you would need a gas engineer to repair it.

Can you watch the flame after using water for a long time and see when it goes out?
