Hope somebody can help?
Got a Biasi Riva Compact HE M96 28SR/02 that keeps going into lockout.
2nd red light flashes 1 second interval and lockout light is on.
Pressing reset button makes boiler fire up as normal and then it works for as normal for random period of time.
Am sure it is the CH fire up that is the function causing the lockout.
Biasi engineer has been and replaced PCB but still having problems and not sure they have an answer.
Seems to be doing it in mornings and evenings, but not every day.

It sounds like a very simple fault!

The condensate outlet is blocked or the trap is blocked.

If it has a ball in it then the ball can be removed.

Thanks for the reply.

Condensate outlet - the large bore drain pipe that runs out side?
There is nothing fouling the exit of the pipe.
How would I access the trap/ball and what would it look like?

On a couple of occasions I have been fortunate to get to bolier within seconds of it going into lockout and am able to reset the boiler and see it light without any problems. Would this match your diagnosis?

It is either a lack of flame detection which would need a CORGI or its a condensate problem which you can play with if you feel safe.

You can isolate the condensate trap on test while you watch the boiler by following the wire back to where it "tees" into the wire from the flame detection electrode. As this is a safety feature it should not be left disconnected when unattended otherwise damage could occur to your boiler.

Look at the service manual to identify these parts. The condensate trap is above the grey plastic pipe.

Otherwise call back the engineer!!!! He is meant to have repaired your boiler not charged you for unnecessary parts!

Tony

Note to service engineers! If the trap is blocked, by a stuck ball for example, that safety feature is inoperative and the combustion chamber can flood!
