Hello,

Parents have just moved in to their new house today (previous owner had bought it to do up and sell on and has been empty for about two months). Has the above boiler fitted which the estate agent said was less than 6 months old.
Have switched on today and the central heating is fine and heats up quickly but couldn't get hot water at all. Downloaded the manual as none present and noticed the pressure was below one bar so filled until between 1 & 2 bar. Water now starts cold and after 15 seconds we get some hot for about 5 seconds and then back to stone cold. Have checked all the dials are in the right settings so guessing it is a problem with the boiler as it starts sending hot then stops. A quick feel of the pipes underneath are all cold.

Baiscally asking do we need a plumber or is there anything I can check first. Am a competent DIYer but not too proud to get the right person in.

It sounds as if there is a real fault with the boiler.

The seller has a responsibility for appliances to be working if not disclosed as not working.

So the obvious advice is to get a competent engineer and warn the sellers to expect the bill!
