Biden

You don't have to know how to run a country, or be a general to ask,

"If we give a date, what will we need to do to get all our people and Afghan allies out before the Taliban sweep through?"

Some people have the power (Biden), to say, "Get all the top generals in here now." Then ask them the question. Then do what they suggest.

Doing those things is NOT HARD. The next bit is.

Airlifting people out secretly might well have eventually prompted Taliban into action, but maybe 10,000 extra people? Worth it.

MSM may be flooding the news with Afghan at the moment - maybe to distract from domestic problems. I don't really care about Afghan or anywhere like that. We're a crappy little bankrupt hasbeen island that can no longer ensure bins are emptied, potholes filled or crops are picked, and the taxpayers' money shouldn't be sprayed around the world on hopeless vanity military interventions and other largesse.. We should worry about ourselves and charity begins at home.

whats sad is that the UK doesnt properly support veterans, they leave the army with mental health issues that dont get treated, they end up on the streets homeless.

Afghanistan has cost UK £37billion -how much would it cost to help our veterans?

Can’t blame the tangerine for this one

Im not sure about that -the deal was already done by Trump in Feb 2020

Mr. Trump agreed to withdraw all coalition forces from Afghanistan in 14 months, end all military and contractor support to Afghan security forces and cease “intervening in its domestic affairs.” He forced the Afghan government to release 5,000 Taliban fighters and relax economic sanctions. He agreed that the Taliban could continue to commit violence against the government we were there to support, against innocent people and against those who’d assisted our efforts to keep Americans safe. All the Taliban had to do was say they would stop targeting U.S. or coalition forces, not permit Al Qaeda and other terrorist organizations to use Afghan territory to threaten U.S. security and subsequently hold negotiations with the Afghan government.

Not only did the agreement have no inspection or enforcement mechanisms, but despite Mr. Trump’s claim that “If bad things happen, we’ll go back with a force like no one’s ever seen,” the administration made no attempt to enforce its terms. Trump’s own former national security adviser called it “a surrender agreement.”

:LOL::LOL:

They are the new Government of Afghanistan, they fought for 20 years, and victory is theres. Like it or not, Nato and the US have been defeated and humiliated. This wasnt a fluke 6 month win for the Taliban, this was a long, gruelling drawn out war they fought and in the end they pulled of a stunning victory.

Lets hope they can finally bring peace to Afghanistan. All the signs are there for a prosperous future.

All you lot calling for civil war, lets hope it never happens.

Yes the lack of support is disgraceful, but hey dont worry they got a pat on the back, a parade and a medal for their sacrifice so im sure they feel appreciated.

Like fuk do they. Those who started and egged on this war should be ashamed and should be locked up for war crimes. The soldiers sacrifices were for nothing in the end.

If you really care about the soldiers, end these damned pointless wars.

revenge for 9/11 was the reason for both Afghanistan and Iraq.

and the reason for revenge: ratings for Bush, it was that "war on terror"

$2 trillion cost for the USA to spend 20 years fighting the Taliban only to agree a deal with the Taliban.
