Big House - What heating configuration??

The grant was local to me and on top of the centrally funded grant. They are/were offering a grand !! Doing a conversion is problematic from a cashflow perspective so I might have to give the exoensive option a miss even though I know the bills will be higher in the long run.

Not sure I can fork out in excess of 10k for CH and hot water. I will ave to have a rethink.

Would it be possible for a reasonably experienced DIYer to fit all but the solar??

Wouldn't recommend it. There are a lot of calculations needed to install GSHP etc that even I don't understand. I work in conjunction with a specialist who handles all these details and installation.

If you did eventually go down this route you could consider having a solar heating circuit laid next to the GSHP pipes in ground so when solar cylinder is at full heat excess heat from solar is used to heat ground even more to help GSHP later on ;)

The show is at the Birmingham NEC.

The heat pump, compressor, buffer tank and all the bits will cost around £10k as previously posted.

What you should consider when thinking about it, for every £1k you would spend on oil you will save £700. with a heat pump.

Payback at todays prices is 10-12 years. That doesn't account for what it will cost for installing an oil boiler etc, so in real terms payback could be as low as 5 years.
