Bisecting external mitres

Hi, sorry if this is a dim question, but clearly I'm doing something wrong. Just trying to work out the angle I need for skirting on a corner that isn't a standard 45.

I have bisected the angle using the method in the pic but the angle is correct. It instead represents something like the bottom shape (but not as dramatic). Woodwork really frustrates me as I want to learn but can never quite grasp it!

Basically use a couple of bits of 2x1.
cut them to confirm the angle

That's internal as someone has said. To bisect it ie for skirting just use the same thickness timber around both sides, as someone said above.
External is on the outside.
Or buy a Bosch digital angle measure
