How much bitumen needs removing from reclaimed parquet? Is just scraping off the lumps enough, just leaving the black smear on the wood. Spoke to technical at Ball and they said it has to be to the wood. Is proving nightmare removing with belt sander as it clogs up the paper so quickly. Any Ideas

Remove as much as you can, if needed throw some in a freezer to make the bitumen even more brittle and easier to chisel off.

Bare wood is the ideal, but a stain of bitumen can be expected. Modern adhesives will take a bit longer to bond them back

Many Thanks for that. Am using a Linbide scraper to get most of it off, alot quicker when not having to belt sand it as well.
