We're thinking of cladding the walls of a new annex in Antracite coloured box profile metal sheeting. The thought that woke me up this morning was 'will it get too hot?'
One of the walls is south facing in a little sun-trap corner which we plan to use as a small garden area and my concern is that the surface may get too hot to sit anywhere near and may be dangerously hot to touch.
Anyone have any experience of this? Are my concerns warranted?
Thanks in advance.

Having worked on metal-clad industrial units I'd share your concerns about surface temperatures in strong sunlight - particularly with a dark paint finish.

In a word, yes. You don't say what you are cladding, but I think an air gap behind the cladding might help to keep the rest of the building cool. The black surface will get too hot to touch, also the metal will expand a lot due to the temperature change so slotted fixings will be required and it might crack and creak (and squeak?) as it heats up/cools down.
You could blow air up behind it to warm the house in spring and autumn.
FWIW, My son move a sheet of ordinary grey oily mild steel that was sitting in the sun and he melted the rubber on his builders gloves. So he used newspapers.
